About this role

As a business, we have an important role to play in Cyber Security. Our work has a huge impact across the globe and affects all types of companies. Our partners depend on us to keep them safe, which is where you come in.

By joining us, you’ll be part of our expert team of experienced professionals, so you can learn directly from the best. You’ll help deliver a first-class customer experience to different customers, who’ve all got very different and complex security needs. As part of your apprenticeship, you be embedded in a Technical team in the business, meaning experience in areas like Router & Switch Networks, elevated incident & change, Business Tooling like Event Monitoring and Automation. You’ll be working across a variety of different platforms and technologies meaning you’ll develop a wide range of skills when it comes to our products. 

But it’s not all just about working with our customers to help them with their security needs. You’ll need to have a business mindset when it comes to process. We always want to make things better for our customers, so you’ll be involved in our continuous improvement strategy, using feedback and data to improve our services. 

We know it’s a lot of information to take in from the beginning of your journey, so we’ll start you off with some key concepts like events, faults and customer Network performance, root cause analysis and In Life changes and how they relate to each other.  You’ll also learn about availability, threat, vulnerability, and device risk and so much more.  On top of that, you’ll find out about things like how to vulnerabilities apply to devices and how we keep BT protected.  

It’s a job that involves a lot of teamwork; everyone relies on and helps each other to do the best job possible for our business customers. You’ll have a lot going on at once and can be managing lots of complex workloads and competing priorities. But we’ll work with you to make sure you can manage it. And we’ll also contribute to your ongoing development as well, by helping you study for your ITIL V4 certification, Network + and access to all our learning pathways in addition to your apprenticeship.

About the apprenticeship you’ll study for.

As a Cyber Security – Managed Services Apprentice, you’ll study for a Level 4 apprenticeship called Cyber Securityand Networking Infrastructure. 

The course runs for 2 and a half years and you’ll spend 20% of your weekly working hours learning and studying.  

Entry Requirements

You’ll need to achieve (or be on course to achieve) two A-Levels with a minimum of C grades. You’ll also need a minimum of five GCSEs at grades 4-9 (C or above) including English and Maths. Equivalent qualifications are accepted.

Please note, due to the nature of the work we do, some of these roles may require security clearance. Don’t worry, the Early Careers recruitment team will explain this to you.
