Job description

Title: Cycle Mechanics Trainer

Salary: Grade 3 £26,582.98 up to £29,367.12 per annum (salary on the appointment is at the start of the pay band)
Location/ Department: Glasgow, Bike for Good
Hours worked: 37,5 hours (includes occasional evenings and weekends)
Reports to: Marketing and Sales Manager
Job Purpose:
As a Bike for Good work colleague, you will be part of our vision for a healthy and inclusive environment where everyone in the community benefits from more people cycling.
Reporting to the Marketing and Sales Manager, the Cycle Mechanics Trainer will provide training and assessment of participants over the relevant training providers such as Cytech and City and Guilds, Bike for Good internal maintenance classes and other funded training courses and participant development opportunities.
Maintain professional upkeep of training suites and professional conduct to participants. Taking responsibility for pre & post-course workshop setup including all equipment and consumables are ready and available. Plan and prepare for each course and ensure all course materials are available at the beginning of each course.

Principal Accountabilities:
Operations:
Undertake daily tasks, ensuring compliance with organisational standards set by the leadership team.
Understand & comply with all relevant CRM systems, relevant software systems and evaluation methods
Understand and comply with all operational procedures
Support with maintaining training environment and housekeeping standards and appearance in line with BfG standards
Controls:
Understand & comply with Bike for Good and Cytech brand standards on workshop set up & presentation
Understand company policy and rules regarding Health & Safety measures and demonstrate compliance and controls
Adhere to UK GDPR at all times
Comply with the booking & communication process for training providers
Consistently meet agreed high delivery standards
Use workshop tools, machinery & assets safely and keep work areas safe and organised
Teamwork:
Understand your individual role and responsibilities and how they impact the team
Support and engage with the team and act as a role model
Demonstrate positive communication at all levels, building good working relationships within the team
Understand and actively engage with relevant Bike for Good digital communication & task management solutions including Google Workspace: (Chat, Gmail), BrightHR and BrightSafe.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (THE PERSON SPECIFICATION)

Essential:
Minimum of 2 years experience as a bike mechanic in a professional setting or Cytech Level 2 qualification
Commit to working towards Cytech Train the Trainer and Cytech Technical 3.
Previous experience in delivering workshop-based Mechanical Training.
Experience in lesson planning, participant observation and assessment.
Understanding of a coaching style of delivery.
Establish good relationships with course participants.
Work flexibly in a variety of different team roles.
Organised and able to plan your own day-to-day work to agreed standards.
Proven ability to prioritise tasks effectively and meet agreed deadlines.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the cycle industry.
Able to provide constructive feedback and assessments in a supportive manner.
Understand and comply with all health and safety procedures.
Understand & demonstrate exceptional customer service.
Able to carry out technical work to a high standard.
Eagerness to analyse & solve problems, taking ownership to resolve them.
Ability to pay close attention to detail, juggling multiple tasks at once.
To have a passion for cycling and inspiring people to cycle.
Enthusiastic and dynamic yet collaborative team player with a high degree of integrity and personal responsibility.
Desirable:
Ability to use personal experience to enhance the delivery of courses to engage learners.
