Overview
We are looking for an experienced Data Administrator to take responsibility of the school’s Management Information System (MIS) and assist with the administration of students’ school assessments and the SEN annual review process.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, be highly competent in using school MIS or database systems along with the use of Microsoft Suites. You will demonstrate the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and have an organised, methodical and systematic approach to work.

Salary Type: Bucks pay
Salary details: Bucks Pay Range 4 ISN 21–25 £26,477 - £28,645 Pro Rata, Actual Salary £20,876 - £22,585 (depending on experience)

About us
Alfriston is an outstanding Special School with Academy status for girls aged 11-19 with moderate learning difficulties and speech and language and communication difficulties. We currently have 150 girls on roll. All the pupils have an Education Health Care Plan and are taught in small groups and with additional support. Our staff are specialist subject teachers and are experienced in working with a range of special needs and abilities. Pupils attend Alfriston from all over Buckinghamshire and some neighbouring counties. We also have weekly boarding provision for 20 pupils.
We consider the staff team as our most valuable resource. Training and development is a high priority in the school. There is also personal support given to staff to manage the diverse and challenging work needed to support pupils with significant special needs. At present there are 70 staff employed at the school working in the teaching, support, residential and administrative teams. We are proud of the excellent standard of education provided at Alfriston.

About the role
It is essential that the post-holder seeks to modernise current administration practice by being pro-active, showing initiative to identify areas for improvement and creating solutions to make improvements.
The post holder will be required to work flexibly, and will be expected to assist, or cover for others in the administration team from time to time.
The Data Administrator will be responsible for:
- The provision of effective information to track pupil progress and raise standards.
- To provide and maintain up to date and accurate records of assessment and curriculum on a timely basis, through the use of the school MIS.
- To administer the school’s management information system – specifically the students database ensuring the school maintains and develops accurate databases, to retrieve, enter, extract and output relevant information.
- The input and maintenance of student records and to complete statistical returns e.g. school census.

About you
- Experience of working in administration or data management
- Ability to prioritise work, cope with competing deadlines and use initiative in a variety of situations
- Good working knowledge of IT administration including maintaining and updating records on both internal and external systems
Desirable Experience
- Experience of working within an educational environment mainstream or special
- An understanding of school office systems, procedures and policies
Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Experience in Advanced use of ICT packages including Office 365
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral, and high standard of written and spoken English as well as telephone manner
- Knowledge and understanding of data analysis and ability to use data for both input and statistical review
- Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Excellent organisational skills
- Able to use initiative and work independently
Desirable Knowledge/Skills
- Experience in working with School Management Information Systems (MIS) or Databases – Arbor, SIMS etc.
