Data Analyst

Working with internal stakeholders, you will use your expertise to gather existing and/or new data (where identified) and undertake analysis to provide data insights across GBS. Applying appropriate analytical techniques, you will present your findings appropriately through written reports or through intuitive, self-serve dashboards that will empower colleagues to understand the key metrics that drive performance throughout the organisation.Main Responsibilities- Work within a team to understand and analyse business needs, to understand data content.- Work within a team to manage new data projects from end-to-end, gathering requirements through to developing and implementing new reports- Engage with stakeholders to validate their requirements, review policies/procedures and present solution options in a manner that can be evaluated to meet fit for purpose criteria.- Extract, prepare and collate raw data from multiple sources (from within and outside the University) and analyse, interpret and edit data to produce customised reports / statistics.- Lead and/or work within a team to design and implement surveys across the organisation, analysis of survey outcomes.- Analyse and interpret data to assist in providing solutions to deliver improved service delivery/performance and an optimal student experience.- Recognise erroneous data and escalate to the appropriate individual in line with company procedure- Monitor and assist in audits for data quality, data integrity and data governance- Prepare reports for internal and external audiences using appropriate reporting tools, including Excel and Power BI- Work with & support colleagues across the organisation, building new & improving the existing data dashboards, graphs and visualisations.- Provide sector benchmarking through analysis of outcomes of NSS, TEF, and Graduate Outcome Survey.- Connect with colleagues with similar roles to share good practice and contribute to discussions around data capture and analysis.- Maintain a good understanding of relevant policy and legislation in relation to information governance, security, and complianceRequirements- A good degree in a numerate subject- Previous experience of data analysis would be advantageous- Detailed knowledge of statistical techniques and research methodologies- Experience in presenting data in exciting and insightful stories via interactive dashboards or presentations- Experience with R/Python/SPSS or SQL would also be advantageous- Confidence in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to communicate complex data capability in a way which fully engages them in the services the Data and Information team provide- Good/Excellent knowledge of analytical tools including Microsoft Power BI- A good understanding of data and model design, joins and views are preferable- To show initiative, curiosity and drive through your work, effectively prioritising tasks and managing these to deadlinesOther InformationStandard benefits of employment at GBS include:25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays1-day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 daysWorkplace pension scheme with NESTTuition reimbursement for career development coursesCycle to Work scheme.Access to GBS “Life” - discounts platform, wellbeing centre and much moreReward and recognition programme£500 award employee referral schemeDiscretionary annual performance bonusSpecsavers eye care vouchersAccess to a TOTUM discount card and eligibility for a Costco membershipThe successful candidate will also be expected to demonstrate their commitment:-To GBS values and regulations, including equal opportunities policy.- The GBS’s Social, Economic and Environmental responsibilities and minimise environmental impact in the performance of the role and actively contribute to the delivery of GBS’s Environmental Policy.- To their Health and Safety responsibilities to ensure their contribution to a safe and secure working environment for staff, students, and other visitors to the campus.We improve lives through education, committing to inclusiveness and realising the power of diversity each day.
