We have an exciting opportunity to join our incredible team of Data Centre Engineers. At Capgemini, we are committed to delivering high-quality services to our clients. We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Data Centre Engineer to join our team and help us to maintain and enhance our Data Centre infrastructure. The Data Centre Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and management of our Data Centre facilities. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of Data Centre operations, including hardware and software systems, power and cooling systems, and network infrastructure.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role

The Data Centre Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and management of our Data Centre facilities. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the installation and configuration of servers, storage systems, network equipment, and other Data Centre hardware. Perform routine checks on copper and fibre cables
  • Oversee the monitoring and management of Data Centre infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, uptime, and efficiency. Attend project meetings, provide lead ODM with briefs, coordinate Data Centre resources
  • Ensure Data Centre security by maintaining a sound knowledge of security protocols, access controls, and surveillance systems
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices for Data Centre operations
  • Provide a high standard of customer service via communications, providing solutions and assisting with enquiries

Your skills and experience

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • A sound understanding of Health & Safety practices within a Data Centre environment
  • Proven experience in Data Centre operations, including server, storage, and network management.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Centre infrastructure, virtualization technologies, network protocols, and security practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.

Your security clearance

Security Check (SC) Clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. 
To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.

Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality. Some posts are restricted to sole UK Nationals for security reasons; therefore, you may be asked about your citizenship in the application process.
