Job Description

Data Co-ordinator - Submarines

Full Time

Derby

There is an exciting opportunity for a Data Co-ordinator to join the Data Management & Transformation team.

This is a brand new role offering a wide exposure supporting the implementation of Data Quality Compliance across the entire Submarines Business, this encompassing whole life cycle data, people data, project and product data.

We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.

Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career.

The team focus is on improving data quality or through providing tools to help to manage or visualise data. The team is demonstrating the value of data for resolving some of the organisations long standing challenges, and in doing so is enabling Rolls-Royce to be a brilliant partner to the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Navy.

We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you’ll be doing:

As the Data Co-ordinator you will drive the deployment of new data management policies and tools across the business, helping to promote a positive data culture throughout the organisation.

  • Engage with stakeholders from across the business to identify opportunities to solve problems and eliminate waste through data driven tools and insight.
  • Capture clear requirements for support demands and collaborate with IT and developers to provide solutions that meet the needs of the customer.
  • Support data stewards in identifying data quality requirements. Deploy appropriate tools and techniques for correcting existing data and propose mechanisms for promoting data quality at the point of collection.
  • Support the creation of data quality metrics and efficient audit routines to enable visibility of our data quality journey and to promote the responsible consumption of business data.
  • Deliver ad-hoc training and support of colleagues in key data management concepts and skills.

Who we’re looking for:

At Rolls-Royce we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

  • Experience in a Data Quality / Data Coordinator role or equivalent data management role
  • Ability to generate clear requirements to identify the required outcomes of a data project.
  • Strong understanding of data management fundamentals and the full data lifecycle
  • Experience of manipulating and interrogating large data sets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to groups at all organisational levels
  • Experience of using BI tools (such as Power BI) to drive data insight
  • Experience within a large engineering/manufacturing/service related organisation
  • Ability to identify efficiencies in data architecture, and work with development teams to improve and resolve.

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.
