Data Engineer

We are currently looking for a Data Engineer to join a leading Biodiversity company based in the Surrey area. As the Data Engineer you will be responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of the next generation data infrastructure to support the company. You will also help architect a new Data Lake capability to drive biodiversity focused insights.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Data Engineer will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Design, develop and maintain applications to enable ingestion, rapid access, and analysis of data to accelerate discovery and enable decisions across Digital, Bioinformatics and Products teams.
2. Maintain infrastructure that allows the process, integration and analysis of biodiversity and geospatial data.
3. Evaluate commercial and open-source tools to improve data pipelines.
4. Maintain infrastructure on AWS & Azure as well as maintaining all of the Data Engineering documentation.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Data Engineer we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Experience in designing relational schemas to capture and represent multi-type data as well as experience designing complex queries to generate clear representations of data.
2. Experience with Geospatial technologies, data lake, Python, SQL, AWS, Azure and data pipelines.
3. Experience supporting the rollout, optimisation and scalability of data pipelines.
