Travelers actuarial team is looking for a Data Engineer to sit within the pricing function. This role is based in our London office.
In this role, you will work closely with the pricing team and other key stakeholders to interrogate data, implement pipelines and support advanced predictive analytics. We are looking for someone who is willing to get hands on with the company data and to develop innovative and structured solutions to bring it together in a way that maximises potential. This person will need to collaborate across multiple business units to build a framework which can be rolled out across all areas, but with ability for customisation where required. You will leverage your ability to design, build and deploy data solutions which capture, explore, transform and utilise data to support machine learning and then business.
Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.
This role is eligible for a £3000 new joiner bonus. If you are successfully referred by an employee at Travelers Europe, both you and the person who referred you could be eligible for this bonus.

• Act as an expert to support the wider Pricing team and the Portfolio Management CoE team on data processing and coding best practices
• Support the development of reporting dashboard for predictive analytics purposes and application development where necessary in close collaboration with the Portfolio Management CoE team
• Develop an expert knowledge of the company's IT landscape, data and data systems
• Build and operationalise data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing/quality solutions.
• Participate in the design of data solutions for the predictive analytics team including consideration of use of Cloud based platform to ensure that data and analytics can be properly leveraged in the future
• Analyse sources to determine value and recommend data to include in analytical processes.
• Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security and data quality.
• Partner and collaborate with team and business users to support delivery and educate end users on data products/analytic environment.
• Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents of moderate complexity and correct as appropriate. Including optimising fuzzy merge processes between data systems where primary identifiers are missing to release intrinsic value of data
• Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM related field or equivalent.
• Developing knowledge of tools, techniques, and manipulation including Cloud platforms, programming languages, and software engineering practices.

• Python and SQL experience required; Spark preferred but not mandatory

• Retirement: Travelers will make a basic contribution of 9% of pensionable salary to your Group Personal Pension Plan (“GPPP”).
