Job description
My client is a very well known UK brand name centred around helping people and doing good and are looking for 1 mid/senior Azure Data Engineer as they set up their Data Engineer function, with plans to add another 2-4 engineers over the next 6-12 months.
This role will be mostly remote, with 6 days per month on a rotational basis in their incredible HQ in Alfreton, with flexibility to do 1 day per week for those further away. On offer is a salary of £45k - £75k and a fantastic benefits package, as outlined below.
Responsibilities:
* Help set up and deliver the future direction of the client's strategy and approach to the management, storage and usage of data
* Collaborate with their wider technology and business teams to ensure goals and visions are aligned and achieved
* Help with setting up their data warehousing and lake processes, including collaborating with their architecture teams to figure out what that will look like
* At times, guide and mentor the junior Data Engineers within the team, reviewing their ideas, providing feedback and identifying their knowledge gaps to support their development
Requirements:
* Strong experience with setting up and using big data storage solutions, including data warehouses, data lakes or data lake houses
* Able to build and demonstrate a solid understanding of the concepts of real time data streaming, batch data processing and data transformation processes
* Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Purview, Infrastructure as Code and Aparche Spark or SQL pools
* Any exposure to SQL DBA would be highly beneficial to be able to optimise the ETL process and provide solutions to their dev teams
* Any previous experience with setting up data governance and processes would be highly beneficial
