Job description

Do you want to join one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK?
We are looking for a Data Manager with experience of working with large and sensitive data sets and an ability to capture and develop technical data requirements for a range of internal and external consumers.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, with the ability to work effectively with data providers and consumers alike. You should be flexible, adapting workstreams and priorities effectively in an emerging data landscape.
You will support the preparation of large sensitive data sets to make it research ready; an awareness of data management principles, data science, computer science, or data analytical methods and techniques would be an advantage.
You will work alongside technical teams providing advice and guidance in line with external frameworks and standards (e.g., GDPR), therefore knowledge, and preferably experience of navigating sophisticated information governance processes will be advantageous.
Ideally you will have experience of conducting or supporting multiple simultaneous projects and the confidence to resolve conflicting priorities from a range of stakeholders. This includes senior academic and professional staff, students, external partners and members of the public.
Join us and be part of an innovative and influential University department delivering excellent IT and business services to a leading Russell Group institution. With a reputation for engaging
staff and students in partnership to deliver services, for three years running UK students have voted us best for IT support. Our commitment to delivering and supporting excellent customer focussed services requires recruiting the best staff, investing in higher education and
dedication to supporting sector leading learning, teaching and research – and that’s why we
need you.
We are committed to enabling employees to work in a hybrid model with flexibility over when,
where and how to achieve the required outputs, in discussion with your manager.
The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, generous Pension
Scheme and annual leave entitlement, and access to a range of learning and development
courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose
talent and contributions complement each other to the greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
