ABOUT THE ROLE

DATA PRODUCT OWNER - hybrid role with 2 days per week based in Head Office and 3 days per week homeworking

£45,000 per annum plus 12% bonus scheme

This exciting new role sits within the Business Intelligence team which forms part of the larger Sales and Marketing function. 

In this role, you will manage and oversee the development lifecycle for all our in-house developments to the Master Data Store (combination of Data Warehouse and Data Lake technology); from gathering requirements, prioritising enhancements, removing barriers, and accepting developments.

You will manage the process and governance to make sure our developments are clear, measured and aligned to our business strategy and strategic workstreams.  From new enhancements to bug data fixes, you will make sure we have an efficient and smooth development pipeline, that maintains integrity and continues to return business value.

Gathering feature requests, writing stories, agreeing acceptance criteria and signing off User Acceptance Testing are also part of this role.  Other responsibilities will include liaising with the development team to answer queries and questions, coordinate sprints, and participate in sprint ceremonies.  You will also work with cross-functional teams to identify user needs and manage sprints and releases.

The successful candidate will therefore have impeccable communication and organisation skills to ensure the development scrum team are clear on expectations and story detail, and that stakeholders are appropriately managed.  Previous experience of managing and leading data projects, working with development teams and experience with Agile methodology (preferably Scrum) is required.

HOURS OF WORK

You will be contracted to work 150 hours per 4-week period (37.5 hours per week).  Normal Head Office working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, however occasional flexibility may be required.

Please note, this is a hybrid role with 2 days per week based in Head Office and 3 days per week homeworking.

ABOUT YOU

Essential requirements:

  • Strong meeting leader with the ability to hold others to account and strong people/agency management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to foster excellent working relationships across functions and ability to interact with all levels and all backgrounds
  • Proven experience in a highly numerate or data driven role
  • Previous experience managing and leading data projects, working with development teams
  • Experience with Agile methodology, preferably Scrum and an issue tracking product, preferably Jira
  • Experience working with data architects and understanding architectural and data flow diagrams

Desirable requirements:

  • Scrum Product Owner certified and/or Degree Level education in Data or Business-related subject
  • Significant experience using a variety of data analysis, data mining methods and data tools
