What you’ll be doing as a Data Protection Advisor
- Investigate and manage Data Protection incidents and breaches, inclusive of internal reports and external ICO contacts, complaints and reported incidents.
- Undertake root cause analysis of incidents
- Produce monthly/bi-monthly incident reports and engage with internal departments on trends and root causes.
- Provide support to the wider DP team covering SARs/EIRs/C&T or any other Data Protection-related activity appropriate for the role.
- Manage and administer Data Protection mailboxes.
- Work closely with the wider DP team to manage and escalate risks, complaints, breaches or requests.
- Produce and maintain procedural documents to demonstrate workstream governance.
- Support the production of Data Protection-related standards and guidance documents utilising the latest ICO developments and best practice guidance.
- Support the delivery/production of Training across the business.
- Base Location: Clearwater Court (Reading) or Walnut Court (Swindon) - Hybrid.
- Working Pattern or hours: Full-time, 36 hours a week.
What you should bring to the role
- Experience in a compliance-related role, ideally GDPR / Data Protection or customer-facing roles
- Relevant experience in handling, planning, collating and organising data.
- Expertise in multi-tasking and managing numerous deadlines.
- In-depth communication skills for collaborating with a range of employees within other departments.
- First-class written and verbal communication skills. Able to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to work under pressure, but also remain focused whilst undertaking arduous tasks.
- Ability to take own initiative, make decisions, be proactive and able to work without close supervision.
- Inquisitive nature/able to investigate and interrogate processes and systems.
