LHH are partnering with a global organisation in Birmingham to help secure a Data Protection Manager, who will be part of the Legal Risk & Compliance function. This role is initially a 12 month fixed term contract opportunity, based in Birmingham. the role offers hybrid working and joins a well–established team.The Role
- The Data Protection Manager will report into the Group Data Protection Officer
- This role will suit a qualified Data Protection practitioner or manager, with experience of working in a multi–jurisdictional organisation in a fast–paced commercial environment.
- Ideal for someone who enjoys the hands–on experience of working right across the business, providing first line Data Protection support and advice, coupled with a strong commercial insight focused on business enablement whilst maintaining the Data Protection control environment
- Significant emphasis on leading and project managing the data mapping programme to update and maintain our Record Of Processing Activities. You will work with stakeholders globally from all areas of the business to drive the completion of data mapping and maintenance of our ROPA
- Technical competence in this field must be a given, what will make the ideal candidate really stand out is their ability to think creatively and bring new and innovative approaches to embedding Data Protection within our organisation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide First line support for Data Protection queries, advice, and support. Review and approve Data Protection, legitimate impact, and transfer risk assessments as well as data processing agreements. Maintain accurate records for all
- Consult with Information Security to triage, resolve and investigate Data Breach and Security Incidents
- Delivery of training to all levels of the organisation and creation of delivery models appropriate for a diverse and hybrid work force
- Provide mentoring and support to The People & Marketing teams to proactively manage and disclose Data Subject Access Requests
- Participating in internal audits of Data Protection matters supporting our operational and management colleagues to maintain "best in class" compliance and governance across the business
- Contribute to monthly report packs for Board & ExCo
The Candidate
- Experienced Data Protection Manager, with a minimum of 3 years' experience, holding a practitioner certificate (IAPP, BCS or equivalent)
- Good understanding of GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018. Knowledge and experience of international Data Protection regulations is desirable
- knowledge of operational Data Protection programmes including review of DPIA's, DPA's, International Data Transfers, Data Mapping & ROPA Maintenance
- Experience of leading, or significantly contributing to, data mapping and ROPA projects
- Project and programme management would be an advantage as would knowledge and experience working with SME's and Corporates on a local and global scale
- Experience of using or administering a digital privacy platform (such as One Trust or Logic Gate)
- Strong business acumen with impeccable ethics record
