Central is currently recruiting for two female only Day Support Worker, to work in the Clapham area. The service is a 24 hour supported housing provision for 15-18 women who have experienced homelessness and have interconnecting needs.
The successful candidate will be required to work 21 hours (3 days) per week, working across Monday - Sunday on a rota basis. There is a requirement to work every weekend with one additional shift in the week. Shifts are 7 hour shifts between the hours of 8AM - 8PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1 month, with the possibility of extension up to 2 months. The pay rate for this role is £14.45 per hour, with £2.47 holiday pay, totalling £16.92 per hour.
Please note: occasional travel is required to accompany service users to other services (based on service user's needs) and to the head office (Charing Cross) for staff meetings and training.
In this position, you will be expected to;
- Work as a team to support the delivery of a tailored, high-quality supported housing for women experiencing homelessness and interconnecting needs. These experiences have led to multiple levels of disadvantages.
- Provide a compassionate strengths based approach when supporting women who experience trauma
- Support and promote harm minimisation through daily informal and formal interactions and interventions
- Organise and deliver a range of therapeutic and diverse program of activities to maximise opportunities
- Work as a team to support the preparation of a transition onto long term accommodation
- Support and contribute to 'case management' plans and networks
- Support and embed gender informed best practices and share across the organisation
- Deliver the operational duties related to health and safety in supported housing, for example health and safety checks
- Support and deliver co-produced activities and groups to support harm minimisation and recovery
- Respond to safeguarding concerns, implementing safeguarding policies and procedures
- Ensure appropriate and timely data input and record keeping enabling effective communication and professional accountability
To apply for this role, you must have;
- Experience in providing support to women experiencing homelessness and interconnecting needs and an understanding of the causes of homelessness
- A good knowledge of relevant external agencies and resources for people experiencing homelessness
- An understanding of psychological, gender, and culturally informed approaches to support women with interconnecting needs
- Experience in providing operational day to day management of a supported housing environment
- Experience of organising a range of different therapeutic activities to motivate and meet a person's interest, maximising opportunities of engagement.
- Experience in preventing, detecting, and responding to safeguarding concerns and implementing safeguarding policies and procedures with people who are at risk
- Experience in creating opportunities for coproduction with people using services
- Able to respond compassionately, appropriately, and effectively when responding to women who experience trauma
- Able to ensure compliance of health and safety policies that meet supported housing standards

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
