Degree Apprenticeship in Electro-mechanical Engineering

Here's what you'll be doing

As part of the five-year Electro-mechanical Engineering Degree Apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience working with a variety of teams through six-month placements across the business. As an apprentice, you will be employed by E.ON but will study part-time at the University of Nottingham for a fully-funded BEng (Hons) in Electro-mechanical Engineering.
You will have the opportunity to select placements to suit your interest and skills, examples include:

• Designing sustainable district heating systems to decarbonise cities
• Collaborating with and supporting key clients to develop cutting-edge solar and wind energy projects
• Optimising the performance of existing assets to enhance efficiency
• Pioneering innovative technologies including hydrogen, heat pumps, and carbon capture

Throughout your time on the programme, you will be fully supported at E.ON by the early careers talent team, your mentor and a dedicated buddy from a previous Degree Apprenticeship scheme.

What we need from you

• 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Grade 4 or above in English Language and Grade 5 or above in Maths.
• 3 A-levels or equivalent, which must include at least a grade B in A level Maths and two additional A-levels at grade B (or equivalent). Additional A-levels not accepted are citizenship skills, general studies and critical thinking.

OR

• A relevant BTEC Engineering qualification or preceding level apprenticeship or equivalent demonstrable work experience in the occupation area can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Here’s what you need to know

• Your primary workplace will be our Nottingham office, embracing a hybrid working model. After your first two years on the programme, for development reasons we may encourage you to consider basing yourself at one of our operational sites in the UK, which at present include Sheffield and London. Depending on your placements, you could be expected to work in the office between 1-3 days a week, with the flexibility to work from home on other days (however, this will depend upon the placement). Company-funded travel will be required, and you may have placement opportunities at other E.ON sites across the UK.?
• This apprenticeship leads to a BEng (Hons) in Electro-mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham. This is done on block release, currently spending around 4 blocks (each a five-day week) on campus each year.
• We offer an initial starting salary of £19,350, with potential pay progressions throughout the scheme based on academic and placement performance.
