Function of the Post

You will support the Headteacher in providing strategic leadership and direction, ensuring a child centred approach where anything is possible. Leading on student ambition you will drive up standards and achievement across the school, fostering confidence, ambition and motivation. The Assistant Headteacher for ambition will encourage students to aspire beyond conventional boundaries and instil in them a sense of confidence and determination, that will inspire them to achieve great things.

Principal Accountabilities:

Raising Aspirations:

• Develop and implement strategies to inspire and elevate students' aspirations.

• Foster a positive and ambitious school culture that encourages students to set and achieve high goals.

Careers:

• Design and lead a comprehensive careers guidance program for all students.

• Establish and maintain strong links with employers, industry professionals, and higher education institutions to enhance career opportunities.

Work Experience:

• Coordinate work experience placements with current staff, ensuring alignment with students' career interests.

• Evaluate and enhance the impact of work experience programs on students' personal and professional development.

Student Leadership:

• Nurture and develop student leadership programs with current staff, empowering students to take on leadership roles.

• Facilitate opportunities for student involvement in decision-making processes within the school.

Alternative Provision:

• Oversee and improve alternative provision options for students with diverse learning needs.

• Collaborate with special education teams to ensure inclusive practices and support for all students.

Professional Partnerships:

• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with local businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations.

• Seek opportunities for joint initiatives that benefit both the school and external partners.

Innovation and Research:

• Encourage a culture of innovation among staff and students.

• Stay abreast of educational trends, conducting research to implement best practices in teaching and learning.

Community Links:

• Strengthen ties with the local community through outreach programs and events.

• Engage parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders to foster a supportive educational environment.

• Solicit feedback and input from stakeholders to inform decision-making processes.

In addition we would expect the successful candidate to do the following:

• Contribute to the development and achievement of the school’s strategy, aims and objectives which will develop further a school that retains its identity whilst aligning with the values and policy of the trust, and where the school continues to be the first choice for parents and students.
