Leadership Scale (L13 – L17)

An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join the strategic leadership team of Hampshire’s first all-through school.

We require a leader with proven and sustained experience and impact in whole school leadership (EYFS-KS4) who is optimistic, self-disciplined and professionally generous in their approach. The successful candidate will be working alongside a team of highly skilled and professional colleagues in our all-through school. A strong commitment to one’s own professional learning, engagement in developing educational practice and understanding of the bigger picture is essential for this role.

The post is a significant role wherein the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operational needs of the all-through school as well as working alongside the Headteacher in leading and shaping Hampshire’s first all-through school on the next phase of its journey. It presents a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their expertise in readiness for deputy headship.

Specific roles and responsibilities will be finalised on appointment but will include responsibility for:

  • A significant area of curriculum responsibility with links all-through
  • Leading a key pillar/pillars of school improvement (eg. Assessment and reporting, curriculum, teaching and learning, IT strategy)
  • Inclusion and standards all-through
  • Leading ECT, ITT and New Colleague Induction
  • Middle-school pedagogy

Leadership portfolios are adapted on an annual basis taking into account the needs of the School and individual.

The Westgate has a strong tradition where pupils excel because of the exceptional partnership that exists between adults and young people.

We will provide you with:

  • The opportunity for professional development in one of Hampshire’s top schools for progress and attainment;
  • The opportunity to work in a vibrant, all-through school setting with excellent facilities;
  • The support of experienced and highly motivated colleagues across all Key Stages;
  • A friendly, welcoming school community;
  • Preferential nursery places in our on-site nursery at a reduced price;
  • Free on-site parking;
  • Free use of health and fitness facilities;
  • Preferential admission to The Westgate School for employees' children after 2 years of employment

Safeguarding:

The Westgate School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this.

Pre-employment checks:

All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks, which will include an online search in order to identify any incidents or issues that have happened and are publicly available online, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education recommendations.

Equalities statement:

In order to combat discrimination, no unnecessary conditions or requirements will be applied which could have a disproportionately adverse effect on any one group. All sections of the population will have equal access to jobs. No applicant or employee will receive less favourable treatment because of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership and pregnancy or maternity, unless a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) applies.
