Summary of Duties
As the Deli Assistant responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of foods typically served in our deli or sandwich bar in accordance with our set menu. This role requires culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Deli Cook is required to work in collaboration with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
Key accountabilities
- Customer Service: provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, taking orders accurately, answering questions about menu items, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout their visit.
- Food Preparation: Assist in preparing and assembling sandwiches, salads, and other deli items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring quality and presentation meet expectations.
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean as you go mentality is required so that all areas of the deli counter are clean and presentable at all times. This includes regular cleaning of surfaces, disposing of rubbish and following all food safety requirements at all times to prevent contamination. This includes kitchen porter duties.
- Replenishment: replenish all deli ingredients hot and cold food supplies from the kitchen. Notify the cooks of any shortages.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other deli staff members to expedite orders, support the team during busy periods, and contribute to a positive and efficient work environment.
Essential Criteria
- Must have held a position as Deli Assistant prior for at least 1 year that is customer facing
- Can demonstrate their experience in food preparation in particular serving and sandwiches
- Can demonstrate their attitude towards cleaning and presentation.
- Have Food Safety Level 2
- Can demonstrate they are a team player with a can do attitude
Desirable Criteria
- HACCAP certification
- Allergen & Intolerance Certificate
