DELICATESSEN AND BAKERY ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
Oakes Farm Shop is a family run farm shop based in Balsall Common (CV7), and consist of a farm shop, butchery, delicatessen, and a café.
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic foodie to join our Delicatessen and Bakery team, making homemade cakes, traybakes, pies, pork pies, sausage rolls and more!
You will be able to alternate between our kitchen departments, allowing a range of skills to be utilized, whilst finding everyone’s strong areas.
All our meat products are homemade, using locally sourced meat straight from our butchery counter.
All our cakes are homemade and sold in both our café and farm shop.
We are looking for someone with experience working in fast paced kitchen environment, ideally with experience in a Delicatessen setting.
Great hospitality, hygiene and customer service are paramount for this role to meet our business standards and a passion for cooking/baking is essential.
The main duties of this role are:
- Making pastries, pies, pork pies, cakes and traybakes daily.
- Serving customers at the Delicatessen counter
- Working efficiently to ensure all jobs are complete to a high standard.
- Monitoring stock levels and stock rotation to minimise waste.
- Liaising with the Deli/Production Manager to ensure the correct tasks are being prioritised.
- Introducing new ideas to both the bakery and delicatessen departments.
- Contributing to reaching weekly/monthly department targets.
- Keeping to strict hygiene standards at all times, maintaining a clean working environment in line with the food hygiene regulations.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with fresh and local ingredients to produce delicious homemade produce. Although we will provide full training to anyone joining the team. It is key that you work well in small teams and work well under pressure, meaning multitasking is also a skill you must obtain!
Due to the nature of our business, you must be flexible to work any days of the week, including weekends as shifts can vary week-to-week.
Although this is a 35 hour contract, more hours may be required during busy periods.
Christmas hours may be longer in the run up to Christmas Day, however, the business is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 27th & 28th, and New Years’ Day every year.
Working Hours
This is a full-time position. Working from 35 hours per week, over 5 days (Monday-Sunday)

You will have 28 days of annual leave, (from 1st April – 31st March). Amount may differ in your first year depending on your start date.
Our opening hours are sociable, so you can still have your evenings to yourself!
After 6 months of service with the company you will be entitled to discount in our farm shop and café.
