Job Introduction
Colas Products operate throughout the UK supplying an extensive range of products to local markets from strategically located depots. With over 90 years of experience in manufacturing within the bitumen and emulsion market, we can draw on a vast level of experience and knowledge which is complemented by a strong focus on research and development, due to their continuing development Colas Products in Exeter are recruiting for an experienced Depot Manager who has a sales, health and safety, property and operations background.
Main Responsibility
Main responsibilities will be:
To manage the site so that the safety of personnel and the environment issues are all controlled within the guidelines laid down through legislation or by Company policy, to assist with the distribution of products for both bulk and packed materials to customers within the South West area, in a timely but cost effective way, understand and interpret the ISO 9001 – 2000 Quality System, to work within the procedures laid out in that system so as to maintain the Company registration, operate within the Health and Safety policy imposed by law and further policies implemented by the Company, produce and have agreed the financial budgets to operate within and promote the effective use of haulage to maximise profitability and meet distribution budget.
Complete administration work from order and invoice processing to customer delivery paperwork, comply with sales order entry procedures, and sales procedures manual, record, report and monitor all complaints and comply with quality assurance requirements, submit monthly exposure hours and absence reports as instructed, aim for zero LTI’s, record and report all safety incidents, ensure that all operations carried out within your area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for the safety of visitors, other members of staff and yourself, carry out other appropriate duties as assigned, liaise with the Customer/Contractor to ensure that the surface dressing binders perform within specification at their point of use, ensure correct amount of finished product and merchanted products are available to meet customer needs, ensure the optimum stock levels to meet the above requirement for the operational period, assist the Products Team to achieve sales targets as stated in annual business plan, assist and promote the sale of Company products in advising customers on the correct material and a safe and correct method of use.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be able to:
Achieve and record all aspects of property management, supervise and ensure effective training for staff, ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Exeter Depot.
Build and manage good customer relations via organised locations visits, incorporating the promotion of our extensive product range and promote telesales to manage specific high maintenance customer/market sectors and manage all aspects regarding environmental and quality audits to BSI standards.
You will have excellent customer service skills, good communication and liaison skills, capable of grasping the technical aspects of the materials and learning the practical aspect of the product range, application of relevant health & safety regulations relating to lifting and loading materials, IT literate with basic knowledge of sales systems
Have customer contacts and experience in Highways and Footways maintenance and Civil Engineering, the ability to statistically record and monitor material performance, good knowledge of the product range, properties used, application and safe handling, able to statistically record activity levels and stock control reports and the supervision of visitors whilst within the confines of the warehouse, yard and gate area.
