We are currently recruiting for a Depot Manager to join our fantastic team here at Belvedere in Erith, Southeast London.  This role is commutable from Greater London, Woolwich, Dagenham, Dartford, Rainham, Romford, East Ham, Wanstead, Gravesend, Hackney, Romford, Stratford, Orpington, Barking and the surrounding areas.

Main ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the Procurement Manager, you as the Depot Manager will be required to manage Supervisors and related contacts in the supply chain.

Responsibilities of the role (not exhaustive):

Line Management responsibility for Health and Safety of the entire depot. Ensuring relevant PPE is always worn by all those within the depot
Ensuring depot is secure at all, times with containers and plant suitably locked and chained when not in use
Enforcing Waste management procedures in line with Environmental Management Systems (EMS and segregation in line with EWA code of practice)
Ensuring the works vehicles are parked, complying with parking restrictions safely and at the end of shift walk round ensuring parked vehicles are locked and secure; reporting of such to relevant Contract Manager
Monitor /record and order materials for minimum /maximum stock levels, along with conducting monthly stock takes and recording in line with contract timescales
Emergency Works materials are kept to agreed levels and monitored    
Overall responsibility for hiring and off hiring plant with Riney plant coordinator
Supervise and issue daily, hired plant to gangs and effective recording of defects, along with ensuring the maintenance of the hired plant register
Supervise return of plant daily and effective recording of defects
Weekly stock takes of hired plant against live hire report and reporting to contract Manager
During winter maintenance Periods ensure Fuel /ad, blue levels are maintained, and the relevant vehicles are accessible for call outs
Occasional Gate Audits of Fleet to ensure compliance
Daily audit of plant and equipment

In the role you will be in liaison with stakeholders across the business, ranging from – Contract Managers – Supervisors – Health & Safety Manager / Advisors - HR
The Ideal CandidateTo be successful in this role of Depot Manager, you as the ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position within the civils or highways sector. You will also be able to demonstrate proven experience working within a similar environment as a Depot Manager; as well as possess exemplary leadership and communication skills.

Specific Requirements:

Proven Supervisor experience
Construction Qualification – NVQ 3 or similar
CSCS Qualification
SMSTS / SSSTS / IOSH
Forklift and loading shovel driving capabilities
