The combined Directorates of Stroke, Care of the Elderly, Neurology & Nephrology have an exciting opportunity for a committed Senior Manager to join the team.
The Service Group is currently in a period of modernisation and change due to the current pressures across the organisation and this role will work in tandem with the Directorate Manager to implement new efficiency processes across the Directorates.
Initially focusing on the delivery of the recommendations from the recent Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) report into the Stroke Directorate, this post offers the opportunity to help reshape Stroke services across the organisation, from first presentation to longer term rehabilitation.
The role will also work closely with the National Stroke Program to deliver a consistent service across Wales.
Upon completion and full implementation of the GIRFT recommendations, the post will function as the Deputy Directorate Manager for the entire service group.
The position is ideally suited to someone with an understanding of Program Management as well as experience with operational management, and in complaints management.
The responsibilities for this job will include, but are not limited to:
• Implementation of the GIRFT recommendations across the Health Board and working with the Stroke Network across Wales to implement elements of best practice
• Deputise for the Directorate Manager when needed
• Re-evaluation of Medical Staffing arrangements across the service group
• Constant improvement and development of current processes to ensure efficiency
• Daily operational management of the service group, including the management of Assistant Directorate Managers to • Ensure that the Directorates maintain compliance with RTT targets
• Maintain at least 90% utilisation of all outpatient clinics
• Manage treat in turn and patient selection
• Develop the services to constantly increase efficiency and capacity
• Ensuring that the medical workforce is maintained (incl. management of on-call rotas)
• Managing complex complaints and signing approving draft responses
Based at The Royal Gwent Hospital and The Grange University Hospital, this post will work closely with the Directorate Manager to maintain and further develop an excellent standard of service. This demanding position will offer the opportunity for self-development and progression into a more senior management role.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 24 months to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
