Short summary Cell Services is a unique facility providing a repository of validated cell lines and tissue culture services to the scientists at the Crick. This is an efficient way of ensuring consistent, validated cell lines are used in research throughout the institute. Our expertise enables the scientist to focus on their research while allowing us to work to our strength, and use our skills, to provide a range of Cell Services, which follow standard operating procedures and good practice guidelines. Our aim is to continually improve these services by investigating and introducing new techniques and adapting to current scientific trends. We are reactive to the changing needs of Crick scientists and, at the same time, are cost-effective. Key Responsibilities Be part of the Cell Services management team who strategically plan and make decisions on the future direction of the STP. Support the workflow and development of the Quarantine facility/QC facility. This work requires excellent organisational skills and technical ability. Liaise with group leaders and other STP leads to introduce new collaborations and services. Carry out Horizon scanning for new techniques, equipment, and LIMS systems necessary to improve the state-of-the art of our facility. Cover administrative duties, as required, to continue the efficient running of the department. Troubleshoot any problem that may arise across the department. Reports monthly departmental data and monitor on service activity. Communicate regularly to the team and STP lead any new strategic innovation that will enable the facility to always meet users’ demand. Be involved with staff training, mentoring and career development. Work with the Cryostore Operations manager in the improvement of the FreezerPro database and the Cryostore.
