The Scottish Borders team provide, manage and run Social Centres throughout the Borders towns and villages for older residents aged 65 and over. Our clients benefit from daytime sessions focusing on social connection, nutrition, physical activity, mental stimulation and the opportunity to try new things. Our support helps to reduce the impact of isolation and loneliness and enables people to be better connected with others for their ongoing wellbeing.
We’re currently looking for a Deputy Manager to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis, working 18 hours per week.
The Role
As a Deputy Manager, you will support the running of our social centre in Peebles.
Welcoming new and existing clients, you will plan and deliver weekly client facing sessions, working in a person-centred manner to promote wellbeing and ensuring personal support plans are put in place.
You will also organise and provide refreshments and a hot nutritious meal, take payments from clients, manage the resources and equipment required for the session delivery and oversee the health and safety of all clients and activity.
Additionally, you will:
- Support the recruitment, development, motivation and line management of volunteers
- Manage enquiries, promote the service and maintain relationships with local contacts
- Monitor and report on service activity
Working Hours
This is a permanent, part-time position working 18 hours per week. You will work six hours per day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
What you’ll need
- Experience working in a person-centred manner with care, compassion and sensitivity
- Knowledge of the health and/or health and social care sector
- An understanding of the strengths and support needs of volunteers
- An awareness of the principles of Safeguarding
- A full, valid driving licence
