Job description

The scope of work is as follows:-

  • Support the Client Construction Manager in managing construction on-site project team during the project execution.
  • Supervise and manage Onshore Cable route construction works during the pre-construction and construction works.
  • Enable and manage smooth transition between the asset project and the Company's service organisation / OFTO.
  • Implement tools, processes and supervision to ensure programme compliance for works delivery.
  • Coordinate and manage technical queries from and to Principal Contractor and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety activities, supporting the Client as Principal Designer, relevant for the Onshore Cable Installation phase of the project
  • Review, consider and comment on work-specific, suitable and sufficient risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) received from Principal Contractor and interfacing Contractors prior to permitting commencement of the works
  • Enforce project health, safety and environment rules while maintaining a zero tolerance for unsafe acts
  • Contribute to achieve project financial targets and ensure budget compliance
  • Proactively identify opportunities to gain efficiency's or mitigate commercial risks with other internal and external stakeholders, collaborate and create operational and commercial win-win's
  • Proactively identify and support opportunities to improve the sustainability of the works delivery
  • Implement tools, processes and supervision to ensure quality of the works to specification
  • Manage tools, processes and stakeholders to ensure that the projects is in accordance with rules and regulation e.g. permit to work system, DCO compliance, land agreements compliance
  • Manage interfaces to other Work Packages (specifically onshore substation and export cable offshore installation), Principal Contractor and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Engage, support and align with the Principal Contractor regarding external construction related stakeholders e.g. local authorities and/or neighbouring asset owners and agree on lines of communications, emergency response coordination and other operational items, that are relevant to ensure a safe and efficient execution of onshore work on site.
  • Review project specific construction related documentation from the Principal Contractor e.g. Construction Phase Plan, As-Builts
  • Support in the direction of on site construction team
  • Participation in meetings with the Contractor's representatives on a daily and weekly basis as is needed.
  • Providing weekly highlight reports to the Client Construction Manager.
  • Monitor risks and raise alert to any perceived trends
  • Contribute proactively to the delivery of an inherently safe and quality wind farm that minimises the cost of energy over the life of the project;
  • Liaise with other members of the package and stakeholders as required.
  • Delegate for the Client Construction Manager when required.

Essential skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with other stakeholders across the Project.
  • Produce daily and weekly reports in word or excel format.
  • A minimum of 3 year's experience working in a similar role in a related sector

Desirable skills:

  • 5 years of industrial experience in a civil engineering environment with an emphasis on Energy related projects
  • Possess Professional Engineering Membership e.g. ICE. MIET
  • SMSTS training, BEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline.


Ideal candidates will have:
At least 3 year's working experience of onshore export Cable Installation projects
Sound knowledge of export Cable Installation during construction
Excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills
It would also be advantageous if candidates have:
Experience of working within an international team
