Job description

Are you an NMC registered graduate, highly skilled in the design and delivery of healthcare education? Are you experienced in the integration between academic and professional learning? Do you have a commitment to the professional development of the healthcare workforce and an interest in widening participation in Higher Education?
The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world. We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities. Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.
The Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) developed the Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeship in 2018. In 2022 our apprenticeship provision across the University was rated 'Good' by OFSTED in all areas. Following the retirement of our existing Deputy Programme Manager, we are seeking to appoint an experienced healthcare education professional to support this programme to grow student numbers in the future, as healthcare providers make commitments to their workforce development plans.
As Deputy Programme Manager you will work on programmes designed for clinical support workers who are part of the workforce delivering health and social care in a range of settings. You will be responsible for teaching modules for the Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeship (Foundation Degree) programme and providing support for learners from diverse backgrounds. You will also assist the Programme Manager in student support, supervision of projects, recruitment, professional networking and play a key role in the growth of the programme.
The integration between academic and professional learning is a key feature of the programmes. so you will need a firm grounding in healthcare both from an academic and professional perspective and a thorough understanding of the requirements of the role of the Nursing Associate. You will have an excellent understanding of policy and research in healthcare, coupled with relevant experience of teaching adults at FE/HE level.
