Deputy SENDCO – Main duties:
- To have a clear understanding of SEN and disability legislation and guidance
- To lead and manage the Year 7 Student Support Unit (SSU) to promote inclusion in all aspects of the curriculum both formal and informal.
- To ensure that the school is fully compliant with all aspects of the SEND Code of Practice
- To identify students with specific special educational needs and ensure that up-to-date records are maintained and readily available to staff.
- To ensure the completion of reports, consultation responses and other documents in line with statutory deadlines.
- To support colleagues to develop effective teaching and learning strategies for all students.
- To do the LUCID testing
- To build strong and effective partnerships with the LA and supporting professionals
Deputy SENDCO – Teaching and Learning Responsibilities:
- To teach the ECHP nurture group for a variety of subjects
- To plan an alternative curriculum with the SENDCO to ensure the progress of all EHCP students.
- To monitor the performance of SEND students and ensure that effective differentiation is taking place in lessons.
- To ensure that students with additional needs are identified in a timely manner and interventions are put in place to meet their needs and enable them to make progress.
- To ensure that teachers produce information on SEND students as required e.g., for annual reviews or other termly meetings.
