Job description

We have an exciting opportunity available for Design Coordinatortojoin our Projects and Planning team working on a full time permanent basis, 37.5 hours per week. Forest Holidays’ cabins are set exclusively within the Public Forest Estate in beautiful woodland and loch-side locations throughout Great Britain. We are developing new locations and improving our fabulous, year-round sites and you can play a key part in our exciting future. The role will be based at our national support centre in Moira near Ashby de la Zouch, however there will be opportunities for some remote working and the occasional requirement to visit our locations around the country.

Design Coordinator

This role is responsible for the coordination of design activity including requirements capture, design stage risk assessments and solution development. The Design Coordinator will be required to review technical designs against agreed criteria which may be required for planning, construction, and building regulations purposes. Working closely with the Design Manager, the Design Coordinator will communicate with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure the stakeholder requirements are captured and design activity remains aligned with our wider business priorities.

Role Objectives

  • Promote a design led approach within the business, with focus on safe and environmentally conscious solutions.
  • Prepare accurate and professional drawings as required (Masterplans, building layouts, elevations, sections, detailed drawings)
  • Coordinate the development of designs for construction works, ensuring accurate and fit for purpose drawings are prepared and checked in line with the project programme.
  • Collate and review drawings from consultants, partners, and suppliers prior to construction, identifying any inconsistencies/risks and proposing solutions and improvements.
  • Coordinate the construction design lessons capture and design risk management processes.
  • Provide technical support to construction teams and Design Manager.
  • Review solutions in line with CDM and Building Regulations and any other applicable legislation.
  • Gain a good understanding of FH planning requirements.
  • Promote a professional and efficient team that utilises the latest technologies and processes.
  • Inform the team of expected changes in regulatory/statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of accurate fit to purpose planning drawings for new and existing locations, whilst identifying and managing risks and developing safe and fit for purpose design solutions.
  • Coordinate design work for environmental projects within the business, including support to the implementation and documentation of BREEAM requirements during construction.
  • Work collaboratively with the team, colleagues, and consultants.

Experience

  • Essential
  • 2+ years’ experience coordinating designs
  • 5+ years Commercial experience using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Produce technical drawings
  • Design risk management
  • Design/construction related background
  • Experience working to UK Building Regulations requirements
  • Understanding and experience of UK planning system
  • Desirable
  • Landscape Management

Qualifications

  • Full UK/EU Driving License
  • Master’s degree
