Design Engineer
Gel Engineering seeks a skilled Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with the project managers to prepare drawings. This role provides an opportunity to work on exciting projects. Your base of operations will be located within or outside the M25 corridor, extending along the M1 corridor up to Hemel Hempstead and Luton, and along the A1 corridor up to Stevenage. We also operate in Oxford and Aylesbury and you may be required to visit our workshops based in Stroud and Weymouth.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assessing a design brief/scope/survey to gauge the design requirements
- Use CAD software to create 2D and 3D models for fabrication purposes.
- Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure drawings are error-free and ready for production.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to discuss design concepts and modifications.
- Collaborating with project managers, other engineers, and clients to determine project requirements and criteria
- Conducting and/or using research on user experience and needs, current market trends and general functionality
- Developing solutions that solve technical problems whilst maintaining quality and QEHS standards
- Creating multiple iterations of drawings using computer-aided design tools.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to discuss design concepts and modifications.
- Evaluating design solutions against industry standards, regulations and customer asset standards.
- Maintaining and documenting the design process and presenting progress reports to all relevant stakeholders
- Attend regular meeting to progress larger size projects with other members of the team
- Produce accurate design, list of materials, detailed drawings in accordance with required standards and company procedures, and within agreed timescales.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in design techniques
Knowledge and Experience:
Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, desirable.
Proven experience in design and creating detailed drawings.
Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Attention to detail and a passion for precision in design.
