We are currently seeking to recruit a talented and motivated Design Engineer to join our client, a leading engineering firm in Mid-Ulster. As a Design Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to transform research concepts into detailed designs suitable for production. Your expertise will play a crucial role in enhancing production efficiency and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality in our commercial trailers.
Your new role
In this role, you will translate research ideas into practical designs, re-engineer existing designs for improved manufacturability, and prepare comprehensive engineering reports. You'll also generate production specifications and detailed engineering drawings. Staying up-to-date with relevant trailer legislation and adhering to industry best practices for safety and design will be essential. Applying Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies will be part of your daily practice.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you'll need strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative team approach, and practical hands-on abilities. Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (ideally Autodesk products), familiarity with MS Office tools, and an understanding of design stress calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is desirable.
