Responsibilities of a Design Engineer
- Create electrical control panels that are specifically suited to the requirements of the hydraulic systems on luxury yachts, assuring maximum performance, dependability, and safety.
- Produce thorough electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings utilizing tools and software that are accepted in the industry.
- Choose the right motors, sensors, switches, and other electrical parts to achieve the project's goals while taking efficiency, durability, and environmental concerns into account.
- To ensure performance, accuracy, and functionality, thoroughly test and validate control panels, motors, and integrated systems.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to find high-quality electrical materials and components while maximizing cost-effectiveness.
- Offer technical assistance during the manufacture, assembly, and installation phases, addressing any problems or adjustments resulting from the design.
- Investigate and fix electrical problems, working with the larger engineering team to come up with fixes and solutions.
Requirements of a Design Engineer
- Electrical engineering degree or a similar degree
- Strong competency with electrical design software and tools, such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or comparable;
- 37+ years of expertise in electrical design, preferably in the marine industry.
- Knowledge of pertinent industry rules and guidelines, such as those of marine classification associations (such as ABS, DNV, and Lloyds).
- Integration experience with serial communications, especially with AS-I or Canbus networks.
- Practical, able to construct solutions and prototypes as needed.
- A thorough understanding of hydraulic systems and how electrical components interact with them.
- Capacity to successfully choose and combine motors, sensors, and controls to provide the best possible system performance.
- Flexibility in a quick-paced engineering setting and in response to changing project requirements.
