Job title: Detail Design Engineer - Mechanical
Location: Portsmouth Naval Base
Salary: Up to £35,000 dependant on skills and experience
What you'll be doing:
· Provide CAD drawings in support of Design Engineers within the Engineering Department
· Provide support to ship validation activities and support to ship validation activities
· Carry out Datum Pack Surveys under supervision and produce/update ship datum packs
· Produce and update drawings by using Auto CAD package
· Upkeep of configuration control and inputs
· Knowledge of Ship system engineering Drawing advantage.ie, Diagrammatic and Pipping Isometrics
· Knowledge of ship systems materials and equipment(Symbols)
Your skills and experiences:
· Engineering background (Mechanical) preferable
· Design Experience - Producing and working from engineering drawing packages ie. Understanding Mechanical System drawings
· Auto CAD/Inventor toolset experience desirable.( CAD Experience in other CAD system ,willing to train)
· Knowledge of Ship system engineering Drawing ie, Diagrammatic and Piping Isometrics
· Knowledge of ship systems materials and equipment(Symbols).Desirable
· BTEC/ONC qualified or equivalent experience

As a slinging team leader, you will be responsible To lead, coach and manage a multi skilled diverse team with the objective to deliver our products and services safely, to time, cost and quality. To be proactive, agile and be able to absorb and assess multiple sources of information to establish solutions to production problems to ensure agreed deliverables are achieved.
Our team can cover all types of ship modification requirements that the MOD or any other customer task us with. The team can be involved on a variety of activities for all classes of vessel which might include ship system design modifications (i.e. Installation Solutions); feasibility / report studies; Fluid Flow analysis, CAD draughting modifications and ship surveys. The Detail Design Engineer team are an integrated part of the Mechanical team dealing with the updating of existing legacy warship Datum Pack drawings using AutoCAD design software and RasterCAD conversion tools. You will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge, with the potential to lead into more senior positions within a global business.
