*This position currently attracts an additional market forces pay allowance of £5,000 per annum. The market allowance will be paid as 12 equal monthly payments and is subject to deductions for pension, income tax and national insurance. This will be subject to review in Spring 2025. There is also a facility for the payment of relevant professional body membership fees.
What is the opportunity?
The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and monitoring the work of the Development Management Enforcement and Conservation & Design Teams but will also playing a key role in the Development Management team, ensuring close working relationships exist as appropriate within Planning and with other Service Units of the Council and outside organisations, and delivering an excellent customer service.
You will lead on and be responsible for the more complex Development Management, conservation, planning enforcement and tree matters, planning applications and related determinations, notices, and orders.
In this role, you will also support the Development Management and Assistant Managers in the checking and determination of planning applications, committee reports, appeal statements and pre-application advice reports.
You will have an excellent knowledge base of relevant law, policies, theories, best practices and procedures in Planning with a proven record of negotiating successful outcomes having worked collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
We therefore welcome experienced officers knowledgeable in the field of Development Management. A successful applicant would require a degree level standard of education or have an equivalent level of experience.
