Job description

  • Are you passionate about making a difference?

  • Do you thrive on connecting with people and telling compelling stories?

  • Are you a highly organised person happy to lead on a range of Trust and Foundation fundraising initiatives?

  • If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic Development team at the University of Dundee!

As our Development Officer - Trusts and Foundations, you'll play a crucial role in securing funding for groundbreaking research, innovative learning initiatives, and vital infrastructure projects that empower students, enhance our community and tackle critical challenges. You'll be the voice of our inspiring community, crafting persuasive proposals and forging meaningful relationships with charitable Trusts and Foundations. This is your chance to directly contribute to initiatives that answer real-world challenges.

Variety is the spice life, and so is your work in this role. Here are some examples of the fundraising initiatives you'll be supporting:

    • Student experience: By securing funding, you'll help provide enriching academic experiences, giving students a chance to thrive at our university.

    • Capital campaigns: Your efforts will contribute to vital infrastructure projects, like new research facilities or student learning spaces, fostering innovation and collaboration across campus.

    • Ground-breaking research: You will champion research projects ranging from developing new treatments for neurological conditions, to tackling the challenges of climate change.

    • What you'll do:

      • Craft compelling proposals and presentations that bring our funding initiatives to life and capture the hearts of potential donors.

        • Connect with key stakeholders, cultivate lasting partnerships, and ensure donors feel valued and engaged.

        • Develop and execute fundraising strategies to secure funding from Trusts and Foundations, through various methods, including face-to-face meetings, written proposals and other activities.

        • Develop comprehensive stewardship strategies, nurturing relationships that fuel future support.

        • Monitor progress towards fundraising goals, Document activities and reports, leveraging Raisers Edge to optimise strategies.

        • What we're looking for:

          • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt your message to different audiences.

          • Fundraising experience; however, we care as much about what you have the potential to do as what you have already done

          • Ability to multitask, manage deadlines efficiently, and stay organised.

          • Collaborative spirit and a strong desire to build relationships.

          • Passion for making a positive impact and a belief in the power of collective action.

          • Why join us:

People are at the heart of our success. We care about our staff and students, striving to offer the best possible environment to all. A wide range of employee benefits make the University of Dundee a great place to work.

            • 34 days of annual leave per year (including public holidays). The University is closed over the Christmas/New Year period (7 or 8 days) and these are deducted from the annual leave entitlement

            • Annual spinal point increment

            • A contributory pension scheme

            • Flexible hybrid working

            • Access to a whole range of professional and personal development opportunities

            • A range of policies designed to support staff to balance work and home life and deal with personal responsibilities, as well as some of life's major events.

            • All staff can take advantage of a range of other benefits such as membership of our Institute of Sport & Exercise, make use of our extensive library facilities, cycle to work schemes and government's tax-free childcare.
