We are currently recruiting for a Development Underwriter on behalf of our client, one of the leading brands in the UK insurance market.

Joining an established team, the role will focus on underwriting existing business for the company's commercial policies.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to progress their career to a Senior Underwriter position, working for an insurer with an excellent reputation in the market.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwriting the company's commercial products in line with their very high standards.
• Working towards set targets each month, including profitability, conversion and productivity.
• Developing your sales skills and appreciation of Sales and Underwriting strategy, in
  collaboration with the wider teams and regions.
• Effectively negotiating with both internal and external parties, including identified points of
  contact with a brokerage.
• Challenging non-standard underwriting decisions, utilising the expertise of product
  specialists and Underwriting Managers.
• Looking out for process improvements and how the company can do things differently, in order to improve the customer experience and drive profitable growth.

Key Requirements

• At least 2 years' experience as a Commercial Lines Underwriter, with knowledge of Professional Indemnity and Commercial Combined. Exposure to Management Liability and Cyber is preferred, but not essential.
• Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
