We are currently recruiting for a Senior Development Underwriter on behalf of our client, one of the leading brands in the UK insurance market.

Joining an established and high performing team underwriting larger and more complex Professional Indemnity business, you will be responsible for driving the profitable growth of the Northern Region PI business at a time of exciting growth for the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwriting larger, more complex Professional Indemnity cases.
• Promoting Professional Indemnity Underwriting in the Northern region, including training local Underwriters and Brokers as required.
• Coaching and mentoring less experienced Underwriters, helping them to build product specific knowledge and sales skills.
• Leading, setting and executinh the local underwriting strategy for your area, in conjunction with members of the Underwriting management team.
• Taking referrals of more complex risks.
• Leading underwriting and sales visits to larger clients and prospects.
• Leading the team in achieving the target retention rate for the region.
• Developing close, effective relationships with brokers to develop new opportunities.

Key Requirements

• Significant experience as a PI Underwriter, including knowledge of underwriting larger, more complex risks.
• A recognised Underwriter within your region, with excellent knowledge of the insurance market.
• Ability to coach and mentor less experienced Underwriters in underwriiting / sales.
• Excellent relationship management and sales skills.
• Ability to act as the referral point for larger, more complex cases.
