Devices Team Lead

CK Group are recruiting for a Devices Team Lead to join a materials manufacturing company at their site based in Merseyside on a full time, permanent basis.

Salary:

Up to £60,000 - £70,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours of work:

Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Role:

The Devices Team Lead is responsible for driving forward the research and development of optoelectronic devices based on nanomaterials and quantum dots (QDs), including next generation infrared quantum dot photodetector devices. After building out your team and completing the process to set up the device lab, you will be responsible for the development of state of the art QD photodetector development utilising next generation of QD materials. Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding the future of our R&D initiatives, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading and managing a team of scientists in a very dynamic working environment, to ensure development of all team members
• Leading the development, design, fabrication and testing of devices made from nanoparticles and QDs to achieve project deliverables
• Implementing fabrication processes including scoping out new equipment as necessary
• Scoping and setting-up optical and electronic testing equipment as required
• Reviewing and improving device characterisation techniques
• Ensure all fabrication equipment is maintained at the highest standards- Supporting generation of IP as required
• Meeting with customers and external stakeholders when necessary
• Ensure all results are disseminated to CTO and coordinate with CTO on customer reports

Your Background:

• PhD in relevant discipline (Physics, Engineering, or Materials Science)
• At least 2 years of academic (postdoctoral) or industrial experience in developing QD semiconductor devices and preferably running a device fabrication lab with practical experience of utilising technologies such as laser ablation and ALD
• In-depth knowledge of device engineering principles, materials, and technologies, particularly in the area of quantum dot devices
• Experience in maintaining fabrication equipment such as evaporator, laserablation and ALD is an advantage
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse group of technical professionals
