Devops Engineer

A great opportunity has opened up to recruit an additional DevOps Engineer to join the 'Shake N Bake' team which is part of Sports and Trading Platforms within Flutter UKI.

What you'll do

Our team is responsible for deploying and maintaining many of the core services that power Sky Bet, as well as providing DevOps support across the UKI division. We are a small team with a big remit and are looking for someone who would enjoy the challenge and enjoy working as a team to deliver ambitious projects as well as supporting high traffic, critical backend applications and services.

We work in a hybrid model meaning that you would have the flexibility to either work from one of our offices, or from home and we try to get together in person fairly regularly for moments that matter, such as people check-ins and celebrations. There are also occasional opportunities to visit other UKI locations for short periods, such as for training, celebrating success and for collaborating on projects.

Please note that on-call support will be required with this role (paid in addition to salary based on shifts worked).

How you'll do it

Key skills we’re looking for:

• Bitbucket, GitHub
• Yes
• Jenkins, GoCD or similar
• Chef/Cinc, Ansible (or similar such as Puppet)
• General Linux admin knowledge
• VMs (vSphere/OpenStack)
• Networking (load balancers, firewall configs, general knowledge of the OSI model)
• Awareness of security best practices and considerations

Soft skills:

• Team working and willingness to share knowledge and support other members of the team
• Ability to work autonomously and a quick learner. Self-motivated and willing to work hard and do what is necessary to help meet our team and business objectives
• Attention to detail. We work with business critical systems so it is important to have a safe pair of hands making changes to them
• Good communication. We are a hybrid team so often communicate online, so it is important to find someone who is able to communicate well both in person and over video calls/slack etc, and who is comfortable and confident communicating with other teams and departments as we regularly work with colleagues across the business
• A continuous improvement mindset, both in terms of improving our processes and services, but also with regard to self-development and learning
