An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Diabetes Technology Technician/Educator within the Diabetes Specialist team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT). This is a newly created post to support patients to the use of their technology to the fullest. A core function of the role is to support the growing numbers of patients using Diabetes Technology and the wider clinical team.
The Diabetes service covers three sites and ICHT is comprised of five acute hospitals. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team with consultants, podiatrists, dieticians and other professions, the diabetes specialist practitioners perform a crucial role in making a difference to patients with diabetes. Diabetes is a Tri-site service and working across site should be expected at times. This role requires on site working and supporting inpatients with Diabetes Technology when required.
The successful candidate will be in possession of a healthcare related qualification or equivalent, experience of working within a healthcare setting and experience/understanding of caring for patietns with Diabetes. The post holder will have a high volume of patient contact face to face/remotely/correspondence, have responsibilities for administration processes and contribute to accurate recording of consumables related to Diabetes Technology.
Due to the nature of the post a set of competencies will need to be undertaken as part of your development into the role.
To provide information and support to enable patients with diabetes and their carers to use varied types of technology, including how to download technology at home.
Arrange independent clinics in order to demonstrate Diabetes Technology and support people to use this safely (face to face and remotely).
Download and transfer information from specified types of technology for clinicians to review and utilise during clinic consultations.
Maintain ICT access and related administration portals such as online technology platforms that are used by the diabetes service and Trust.
Order and maintain the technology supplies for the department to meet demands.
Participate in Audit and other quality assurance processes.
