At Breck Foundation we are at the forefront of efforts to safeguard vulnerable tech and internet users. Our priority is children and young people’s digital resilience and online safety. We are a unique and dynamic organisation that makes a real difference. We inform, educate and campaign to help young people and the wider UK public reclaim the internet from those who seek to harm others through it. Our charity was Founded in 2014 by Lorin LaFave in memory of her son, Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and then murdered by someone he met online. We are committed to producing generations of internet savvy online tech users by;
- working with policy makers, tech companies and the wider public to put young people’s online safety first,
- working together with young people themselves to co-produce and co-deliver innovative programmes. Our educational programmes reach thousands of students, parents and safeguarding professionals each year.
The Role
As our Communications and Events Officer, you will lead on shaping and delivering our communications strategy and on important communications campaigns to engage Breck Foundation Friends, various stakeholders and the wider UK public on our work and the issues that drive them, and to improve awareness and support for our important work. Alongside managing all social media content, you will also take responsibility for the planning, organising and the successful delivery of all Breck Foundation’s events. It is especially important that you will be imaginative and able to take initiative.
