Has your excellent understanding of the Digital Communications landscape been gained creating social media strategies and managing multiple channels? Then join Shelter Scotland as a Digital Communications Executive and you could soon be the person behind the Shelter Scotland brand on those channels.
About Shelter Scotland
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet over a million people in Scotland struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.
At Shelter Scotland we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.
We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter Scotland and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.
About the team
As part of the Communications and Engagement team, you will be responsible for maintaining the Shelter Scotland brand across our digital channels. Developing and implementing our Social Media strategy, you will help our drive to sign up supporters, increase our online presence, and help us build a movement around housing.
You'll collaborate closely with Communications team colleagues including:
- 2 Content Producers
- Communications Executive
- Communications Manager
Working closely with the Supporter Mobilisation Manager, you’ll support our goals by building the online community.
About the role
Our award-winning Communications team promotes Shelter Scotland's brand and leads our public campaigning and Digital Communications to achieve change for those that do not have a safe, secure or affordable home in Scotland. Your challenge will be to develop and implement our social media strategy to increase online presence, support our drive to sign up supporters and help us build a movement around housing. As well as championing the use of digital channels and technologies to tell our story, we'll rely on you to analyse campaigns and provide guidelines, expert advice, and support for colleagues too. And, when it comes to working across teams to develop engaging, creative, and innovative platform-specific content that enlightens audiences and promotes campaigns or brand-focused messages, again, we'll count on you.
About you
You'll need a proven relevant background that includes experience of using tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixels and Insights platforms to draw actionable insights. You'll also need strong editing and writing skills suitable for each channel, e.g., from knowing how to write a successful tweet to using effective storytelling techniques. Well-organised, with the ability to prioritise and work across multiple projects simultaneously, you're creative, innovative, customer-focused and have the confident communication skills it takes to liaise effectively with people at all levels. And, if you have experience of using CRM systems, even better, though this is not essential.
