Job: Digital Engineering Electromechanical Specialist (R&D) – Medical Device

Location: Leeds, UK

Contract type: 1 – 2 years FTC + extension

 

Are you a passionate and skilled Electromechanical Specialist looking for an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge medical advancements? Albion Rye are pleased to be supporting a global Medical Device and MedTech organisation in the recruitment of a new Electromechanical Specialist (R&D)!

 

Due to company growth, we are looking to speak with Electromechanical Specialists with 3-5 years’ of experience to support the management of a portfolio of Medical Devices in orthopaedics and digital surgery, using cutting-edge technology in both robotics and electromechanical engineering. The Digital Engineering Electromechanical Specialist will support the wider global MedTest group, responsible for New Product Development (NPD) and Lifecycle Management projects, through all phases of product development. You will support the global team with testing processes, providing technical computational modelling, engineering and evaluation support.

 

Key responsibilities (to include but not be limited to):

  • Collaborate with teams and testing associates to research, design, execute, validate, and report on computational modelling and physical/functional testing studies.
  • Design, develop or maintain simulation models for complex electromechanical devices, including robotics, control systems, and electromechanical components.
  • Perform simulations to predict the performance of devices using multi-domain simulation approaches including linear and non-linear dynamic responses.
  • Conduct analysis of system dynamics, stability, reliability and design robustness
  • Analyse results to identify potential design problems and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collect and analyse data from testing to validate computational and analytical results (e.g. strain gauge, DIC and accelerometery)
  • Perform coding tasks necessary for system analysis, simulation, and model development.
  • Document process and results through technical reports and publications.
  • Modify or create CAD models (if applicable for the project) as needed to support the simulation department.
  • Clearly and professionally communicate findings, technical challenges, and proposed resolutions to peers, teams, and management.
  • Co-author and review reports to meet industry, regulatory & company standards.

 

Skills/Experience:

  • Degree in Electrical engineering, Robotics, computer Science or similar Strong analytical skills, especially in the areas of engineering (systems & electromechanical), statistics,
  • Structural Dynamics and Vibration are required.
  • Experience with electromechanical devices is required with a robust understanding of robotics and control systems.
  • Ability to work unsupervised while prioritising assigned tasks and communicate to management efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate technical concepts, ideas and knowledge to a diverse audience and work effectively as a team member.
  • The ability to review and critically assess technical documentation is required.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience is a plus.
  • Perform analysis of output using statistical and Six Sigma analysis tools (e.g. Gauge R&R, DOE)
  • Experience with CM&S verification and validation, design optimization and experimental design is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and certifications relevant to robotics and control systems.
  • Understanding the design controls process and successful completion of the product development life cycle of complex capital equipment devices (preferred)
  • Proficiency utilizing the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc.) is required.
  • Experience with embedded sensors and communication protocols (IMU, SPI, Kalman Filter, I2C)
  • Experience with Data Acquisition, Signal Processing, AI, & ML
  • Experience with simulation software, ANSYS is (preferred).
  • Strong background in software development with proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ or Python is required.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (Siemens NX) (preferred).
