An exciting and rarely available opportunity has arisen to join the Regional Cyber Crime unit as a Digital Forensic Technician to support, maintain and develop the infrastructure of the ever growing Digital Forensic capability of the unit whilst also providing resilience to the Digital Forensic examiners where necessary, in particular in relation to Cyber Crime Incident response and network analysis,
The Regional Cyber Crime unit is part of Tarian, The Southern Wales Regional Organised Crime Unit and are responsible for investigating a wide range of serious crime and need access to cutting edge technology in support of such investigations.
The role will primarily involve a variety of tasks including maintenance and installation of hardware and software updates, management of network protocols for secure forensic environment and server management through use of Windows server 2016 & Linux distributions as well as developing workflows to improve efficiency through automation of tasks.
The successful candidate will also be expected to provide resilience to the unit, by conducting forensic examinations of the ever expanding horizon of digital technology, which will assist in the identification, prevention and detection of criminal activity. You will be expected to have an understanding of a vast array of digital files encountered during an examination, being able to present their evidential findings to peers and a court
The successful candidate will gain invaluable experience in networking and computer forensics in a regional law enforcement environment and will have access to a wide variety of industry leading hardware and software in support of their role.
The successful candidate must be highly computer and networking literate with either formal relevant educational qualifications at degree level or industry equivalent experience.
The Regional Cyber Crime Unit is an accredited Testing Laboratory under ISO 17025 Quality standards and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute towards the ongoing projects to maintain and expand this accreditation.
This role is not suitable for part time/job share workers due to operational requirements.
The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
