Job description

At Forestry England we care for more land and trees than any other organisation in England. From small woodlands on the fringes of towns and cities, to vast areas like the ancient New Forest, for over 100 years we have been growing, shaping and caring for the nation’s forests.

The role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a data-driven and creative Digital Marketing team, who are working to increase awareness of Forestry England.

In this role you will be managing digital campaigns to meet our strategic goals. You will own the Digital Marketing metrics, using data to support the continuous improvement of content and channel strategies.

The ideal candidate knows the ins and outs of email marketing, from lead generation all the way through to scheduling. Managing the database is a key part of the role, and you will be a central contact for digital queries including those concerning data and GDPR.

As part of the national digital team, you will be keen to share your knowledge. You’ll build positive working relationships, keeping internal staff guidance updated and well communicated. The ability to share best practice and work collaboratively is key. We’re looking for a natural communicator who thrives in relationship building.

The ideal candidate understands the importance of digital advertising in effectively supporting commercial opportunities and increasing brand awareness. Forestry England is aiming to grow in this area, and the role will support implementing a new strategy.

The ideal candidate will be great at managing relationships. Whether it’s an influencer activation or a collaboration with a brand, you’ll seek exciting digital opportunities that arise from new and emerging trends and technologies.

This role will manage three content creators working on email marketing, social media management and digital advertising. You will support them to deliver first-class digital content and keep schedules or planners up to date. In supporting and delivering our national marketing campaigns, you may be sourcing products and suppliers, and managing team admin.

This is a full-time role for 37 hours a week, which will normally be worked from Monday to Friday. However, the nature of the work includes the requirement to provide occasional scheduled social media cover at weekends or during public holidays and evenings (with the exception of Christmas Day).

As the post involves dealing with contacts across Forestry England, occasional travel with stays away from home is a requirement of this post.

Role purpose

To increase support for the nation’s forests and sales of our products and services by managing the delivery of first-class Digital Marketing communications for Forestry England across social, email, website and advertising channels.

To lead the promotion of best practice in Digital Marketing content creation across Forestry England and work collaboratively with internal teams and content creators to ensure output is aligned to wider priorities.

To own the Digital Marketing dashboards and be responsible for identifying new opportunities and areas of improvement of growth.

To support content creators to deliver engaging content and develop their skills.

Key responsibilities

Monitor and evaluate our Digital Marketing activity to ensure continuous improvement of content and channel strategies

Be the central data expert, managing the email marketing database and GDPR, dipping your toes into an exciting CRM project

Support the team to deliver a new digital advertising strategy

Oversee content creation, contributing where required (social, email, advertising, blogs and website)

Support the planning of national marketing campaigns, communicating key information to internal and external stakeholders

Ensure our influencer marketing strategy and processes are followed so that we have an integrated and strategic approach to activations across Forestry England

Stay abreast of digital trends to ensure that our activity complies with relevant best practice guidelines and regulations

Line manage three Digital Marketing coordinators.

Build relationships and share best practice.
