MNA Media is a leading media group with a rich history of delivering high-quality news and information to communities across the Black Country, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Mid Wales and beyond.

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Digital News Editor to join the team.

Role Overview:

As a Digital News Editor, you will play a crucial role in creating, discovering, assigning, and news editing stories that drive page views and subscriptions on our two websites - expressandstar.com and shropshirestar.com.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journalism, particularly in the digital and online space.

Social media and SEO proficiency and knowledge of any of the Black Country, Staffordshire, Shropshire or Mid Wales regions would be highly desirable.

Our reporters are known for their extensive knowledge of their respective patches.

Key Responsibilities:

- Discovering and researching compelling news stories relevant to our audience.

- Assigning tasks and managing a team of reporters to cover breaking news and developing stories.

- Editing and optimising news content for digital platforms to maximize engagement and reach.

- Implementing strategies to drive website traffic and increase subscriptions.

- Collaborating with other teams, including social media and marketing, to amplify the reach of our content.

Requirements:

- NCTJ-accredited qualification in journalism, or a degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.

- Proven experience in Digital News editing, preferably in a similar role (or senior reporting).

- Strong editorial judgment and the ability to make data-driven decisions.

- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

- Knowledge of media law.

- Ability to thrive in a very fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

- Familiarity with content management systems and digital publishing tools.

- Social media savvy with a demonstrated ability to leverage social platforms for news dissemination.

- Knowledge of the Black Country, Staffordshire, Shropshire, or Mid Wales areas would be a plus.
