Job description

Do you love using data to get people to think differently?

Want a role with variety, scale and impact?

Can you use analytics to help build us better services for over 20 million users?

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year, to support some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

We have two exciting opportunities to join our Fraud and Error team and Retirement Services as a Digital Performance Analyst.

These teams are in the middle of some exciting projects all aimed at helping citizens to prove their identity and access the Government services and support they need.

You'll deliver actionable analytics to a wide range of stakeholders and teams, so that they can build brilliant, accessible services which really work for the people that need them.

Every day is different, and the variety of work means you you'll get to encounter different situations with complex challenges, allowing you to get creative in order to solve them.

The DWP products and services we analyse and modernise will be used by nearly every person in the UK, at key moments in their lives. The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

Delivery. Work. Projects.

In this role you'll need to build strong relationships with stakeholders within a number of multidisciplinary agile teams - that will give you the influence you need to promote the use of performance analytics and to help stakeholders make iterative improvements through evidence-based decision making.

You will take a supporting role in developing performance frameworks and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the service, design and develop dashboards and provide in depth reports to communicate key metrics.

Another key part of your role will be to provide guidance on data collection from multiple sources to measure a service.

You will unlock understanding beyond the digital journey about the impact of the end-to-end service on the users.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • You nurture a deep understanding of business goals and can turn these into tangible performance measures. You can support teams building digital products to agree and work with the KPIs and measures of success
  • Experience of integrating quantitative data with qualitative data, such as user surveys and user research, to develop hypotheses for service improvements. You can offer recommendations on the best tools and methods to be used
  • You will ideally have experience using SQL and BigQuery and you can present insights and visualisations in ways to communicate complex messages and clear stories. You will also have experience of communicating negative and positive information to stakeholders and know how to give tactical and strategic recommendations in a clear and actionable way
  • You can work with, and influence, senior stakeholders. You can adapt the approach according to constraints. You can see and implement changes necessary, improving processes and ways of working whilst considering their impact

Details. Wages. Perks.

You'll join us in in your choice of our brilliant digital hubs in either Blackpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.

We also have all the tools and tech we need to enable our people to work flexibly. We work a hybrid model with a mix of home working and time in the office.

In return for your skills, we offer a competitive salary of up to 50,296.

You'll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 27.1%, worth over £11,000 a year.

You'll get a generous leave package starting at 26 days, and rising to 31 days over time.

Plus all the usual bank holidays, and the option to take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi leave.

We also have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:

  • Flexible working, flexi hours and flexi days
  • Hybrid working: some time in a hub with the team, some time at home
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Time off for volunteering and charitable giving
  • Bring your authentic self to work with 'I Can Be Me in DWP'
  • Discounts and savings on shopping, fun days out and more
  • Interest-free loans to buy a bike or a season ticket, so it's even easier for you to get to work and start making a difference
  • Sports and social activities
  • Working in an award-winning environment and culture
  • Professional development, coaching, mentoring and career progression opportunities
