This is an exciting opportunity for aDigital Portfolio Manager to join DWP's Digital Portfolio team.

Portfolio Management is key in DWP Digital. We have a lot of activity happening across a huge department, and you'll make sure decisions surrounding the timing, structure, prioritisation, and delivery of our projects & programmes, are correctly planned and managed.

Leading World-class Projects

We're growing our brilliant Portfolio Management community. The role of Digital Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects and programmes within the Digital Portfolio Management function.

Working collaboratively, you'll build strong working relationships with our stakeholders within Digital Group, Finance and Commercial within DWP, Cabinet Office and HM Treasury to ensure vital services and systems continue to deliver for our customers.

You'll offer expert insight, advice and guidance during the project setup process, managing demand and resource through our Digital Front Door, and throughout the associated phases of delivery.

In order than our portfolio of digital products is planned, prioritised and effectively delivered you'll manage governance, compliance and assurance activities to ensure we continually achieve a consistently high standard of delivery.

You'll track delivery progress against roadmaps using defined methods for each programme, escalating issues and resource constraints as appropriate.

You'll support our amazing agile project delivery teams to accelerate delivery. Using the right PM tooling you'll manage inter-dependencies, using data to highlight planning and delivery issues, clearing blockers and putting proper controls and risk mitigations in place whilst preparing and analysing portfolio status reports to appraise our progress.

The Digital Portfolio Manager supports the wider professional community, ensuring we continue to build our capability, in addition to providing line management and coaching to colleagues. An excellent opportunity to join our supportive and diverse organisation in a critically important position.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • You will have experience of either portfolio management or project management within a change or digital environment.
  • Knowledge in building long term strategic relationship with stakeholders to facilitate and deliver business outcomes.
  • Must have experience of analysing multiple information sources, producing reports appropriate for senior audiences, including making recommendations for changes.
  • Experience of applying appropriate governance procedures including delivery assurance.
  • You will have experience of tracking and reporting progress of digital delivery to senior levels, including identifying, managing and unblocking risks and issues.
  • A recognised Portfolio or Project Management qualification such as:

- Management of Portfolios (MoP)

- (Foundation & Practitioner)

- Prince2

- MSP Foundation & Practitioner (MSP)

- APM PMQ (formerly APMP)

- PMI (Project Management Institute) (PMP, PgMP, PfMP, CAPM, PSMP, ACP)

- PfMP (Portfolio Management Professional)

You'll join us in our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool, Birmingham, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.

2 roles are based in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, 1 role is based in all hub locations listed including London, and 1 role is based in Blackpool or Manchester.

We also have all the tools and tech we need to enable our people to work flexibly. We work a hybrid model with a mix of home working and some time in the office.

In return for your skills, we offer competitive pay of up to 47,986.

Pay for this role in London is from 45,724 to 47,986.

Pay for this role in National locations is from 40,201 to 43,347.

You'll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of over 27%.
