The Challenge
Do you have what it takes to be part of our Gold Standard security service?
The MGS is responsible for delivery of unarmed security services to HMNB Clyde, home of the UK submarine fleet and the UK strategic deterrent.
The postholder would be expected to attend the site office at least 3 days each week, but otherwise flexible and adaptable working arrangements can be agreed.
The post holder will lead on aspect of Assurance, Compliance and Corporate reporting, and will have overarching Line Management responsibility for the MGS Clyde Business Management Team, ensuring the delivery of support functions such as Health, Safety and Welfare, Asset Management, Communication and Engagement, Recruitment and Induction.
This is a challenging, operational support role at a high profile, nuclear site.
MGS holds the National Security Inspectorate Gold Standard and is passionate about delivering great things for its customers and workforce.
About MGS:
The Ministry of DefenceGuard Service (MGS) is a professionally qualified body of Civil Servants who provide a range of security services at over 160 MOD sites across Great Britain. The MGS has guarded the Defence Estate for over 25 years including high profile locations such as MOD Main Building in London and His Majestys Naval Bases at Portsmouth, Devonport and the Clyde. The mission of the MGS is to protect Defence from threats including crime, terrorism, espionage and sabotage.
The MGS employs over 2,700 security officers and support staff. Our security services include a large Military Working Dog (MWD) division with 11 units across the country, Control Room Operations, Static and Mobile security duties including access control, visitor access, traffic management, and foot patrols.

Main Responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for;
  • Delivery of Business management services, including line management of the MGS Clyde Business Management Team
  • Coordination, monitoring and reporting of the MGS Clyde Business Plan
  • Provision of internal audit, assurance and exercise functions, ensuring MGS Clyde governance arrangements are effective and efficient
  • Liaison with MGS Head Office, MGS Service Delivery Managers, Unit Customers and Heads of Establishments, building positive and effective relationships with all stakeholders
  • Effective communication with staff at all levels offering open forums and opportunities for staff engagement

Desirable Experience & Skills
  • Line Management experience

Licences
Full UK Driving Licence required to attend meetings and routine unit visits, some of which are remote from public Trasport Links.
