Direct Entry Graduate Scheme – 2024

In the heart of rural Teesdale, GSK Barnard Castle is an important member of the company’s Global Supply Chain (GSC) organisation. We are a key secondary manufacturing site who are investing heavily in industry 4.0 state of the art, bespoke equipment to support sustained new product introductions and volume increases. As a key supplier of some of GSK’s blockbuster sterile, dermatological, and inhalation products, our site contributes revenues of ~$2Bn annually.

The Barnard Castle Direct Entry Graduate Scheme is a three-year development programme designed for university graduates. This programme gives you the opportunity to experience different aspects of your chosen discipline alongside learning how other areas of our site, plus the wider business, work.

You will be based at the Barnard Castle site throughout your time on the programme. You will complete three 12-month rotations within your discipline, where you will encounter different roles and working environments. You’ll also benefit from GSK’s personal development programme which will guide you to acquire the skills and knowledge you will need for your future career with us. In addition to this, there will be various opportunities to network with other graduates and ‘Early Talent’ members such as apprentices and industrial placement students.

The experiences you gain from the scheme will provide you with a solid foundation for a variety of careers at the Barnard Castle site, with the potential for you to become one of our future business leaders.

In this role you will…

Programme 1: Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT)

  • Have the opportunity to get involved with and experience many of the different project stages that the MSAT business unit lead, such as scaling up the production processes for new product introductions or providing ongoing technical support for our established commercial products. During your time in MSAT, you will develop your technical knowledge to become skilled in numerous manufacturing methods and processes. Potential rotation options include Steriles, Dermatological, Automated Visual Inspection, Packaging Technology and Device Technology.

OR

Programme 2: Production Operations (Steriles)

  • You will be working within the manufacturing side of our Steriles business unit, whilst also building your knowledge of quality, technical services, and supply chain. Potential rotation areas include Production Operations and Process Support, Logistics Planning and Scheduling, Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT), and Operational Quality.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT)
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Technology. (e.g., pharmacy, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, life sciences, pharmaceutical science, biomedical science, microbiology, bioengineering, chemical engineering)
  • Production Operations (Steriles)
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technology or Business. (e.g., pharmacy, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, life sciences, pharmaceutical science, biomedical science, microbiology, bioengineering, chemical engineering, business management, leadership)
  • Written and spoken fluency in English.
  • Graduation from university by summer 2024.
