Job description

Great leaders are those who empower others – if this sounds like you then read on. We’re looking for an experienced Director of Fundraising, Impact and Communications to join our leadership team, lead a team thirsty for success, and help increase impact and drive sustainable growth.
You’ll need a can-do, entrepreneurial outlook and a willingness to think strategically, always looking for opportunities to help drive growth. We have a great team so we’re not looking for a micro manager but someone who can inspire the team to identify and grasp new possibilities, ensure our supporters experience a fantastic journey, and help the organisation to excel.

Reports
The role is a member of the Leadership Team and reports to the Chief Executive. The role is responsible for the line management of a number of Senior Managers and a Department of 14 staff.
Primary Objectives
The role is responsible for delivering an income target of £5m and you’ll provide the leadership and vision necessary to increase CBM UK’s profile and presence, develop the national brand & identity, and grow our diverse income streams (increasing unrestricted income with a focus on individuals, legacies, Major Donors and Trusts, as well as supporting a strong pipeline of restricted funding opportunities); always providing value for money, exceptional quality and support to all stakeholders, with a key focus on supporter care and sustainable income growth.

Key Tasks and Main Duties
Income generation and communications
1. Develop and implement a creative and innovative vision supported by sustainable operational plans for CBM UK’s income generation strategy.
2. Lead on the development of the national marketing & Communications and public affairs strategies, overseeing delivery and ensuring a positive impact on CBM UK’s income, profile and reputation.

3. Ensure that a 3-year business plan is developed in relation to new and existing business and funding streams to deliver the CBM UK strategic vision. 4. Identify new income opportunities for CBM UK to an agreed annual target that will increase year on year, with an emphasis on creative donor acquisition strategy (Major Donors and Individuals).
5. Establish a standout approach to our brand – with a focus on generating communications that support our fundraising ambitions.
6. Implement an engagement-first approach, building trust and long-term giving through the provision of excellent supporter experience.
7. Lead & generate vision, ethos and values in all creatives, bids and contracts that meet CBM UK’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion objectives.
8. Drive outstanding performance through coaching, mentoring and strong line management and development of a high performing team, creating a culture of accountability for the delivery of ambitious financial targets, whilst developing creative autonomy. Responsible for ensuring collaborative working within the team and with all colleagues.
9. Lead, motivate and develop staff teams through identification of processes that release initiative, encourage creativity and innovation, empower, train strategically and meet the future development needs of the organisation.
10. Ensure CBM UK is optimising the use of all tools/assets, especially social media, to grow high quality and effective brand and market income generating activity.
11. Ensure all materials, and business services developed are benchmarked against best practice frameworks, including return on investment ratios.
12. Produce an annual evaluation of the Department within the annual objective setting cycle which sets out clear progress against targets, strengths and areas for improvement.

Strategic leadership
1. Lead and direct, ensuring that the annual targets and KPIs agreed with the CEO are addressed in full and the post holder contributes to a cohesive Leadership Team (LT) to develop future organisational strategy, delivering key results against CBM UK’s strategic aims and corporate objectives.
2. Provide information, advice and support to the CEO, the Board of Trustees and its Committees, on matters relating to any issue within the remit of the role.
3. Play a key role in the strategic development of the marketing, fundraising and communications of the CBM Global Federation, ensuring the national brand contributes to and benefits from the CBM Global Federation membership.
4. As an LT member, ensure cross-functional considerations are core to key decision making, and undertake to drive CBM UK’s initiatives, both in the Marcoms & Fundraising arenas and politically, that increase revenue and awareness for CBM UK.
5. As an LT member, build a range of external networks which could influence our market positioning, provide us with collaboration opportunities, benchmarking and raise awareness of CBM UK.
